Our Most Frequently Asked Questions
Why do men lose their hair?
Male pattern baldness is a hereditary condition that is unavoidable for men with the genetic programming. Most men have these genes.
Are there any non-surgical ways to restore one's natural growing hair?
Currently there are two drugs approved by the FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness - Rogaine and Propecia. Rogaine can be purchased over the counter, while Propecia requires a prescription. It is our experience that these drugs are more effective for maintaining existing hair than they are for regrowing previously lost hair. The media raises men's hopes with new drugs and treatments, but rarely do these meet patient expectations. Regrettably, thousands of dollars later, the balding man is back where he started.
Does transplanted hair remain permanently?
Yes. It continues to grow for life. This hair is genetically programmed to grow and is not subject to male pattern baldness. Natural, growing hair is returned to bald areas.
Does the transplanted hair make my hair as thick and dense as it was originally?
Our goal is to provide an undetectable, full coverage over balding areas. It is not possible or necessary, though, to return the hair to its original density and thickness. Natural looking coverage is more than adequate to provide an undetectable hair transplant and to thrill the patient.
Why do some men have blatantly obvious transplants?
Outdated techniques and an "assembly line" process in treating patients are the culprit behind a "pluggy" result. Many clinics see transplants as big business and continue to perform procedures that result in a less than ideal end result.
How much pain is involved in the procedure?
Gentle local anesthesia means that there shouldn't be any pain at all during the procedure.
Is it really possible to regain a natural looking hairline?
We feel that the hairline is of paramount importance. We plan meticulously to provide the most natural hairline that is possible. See our photographs and judge for yourself. Candidates for hair transplantation can achieve very impressive results. A natural hairline is difficult to obtain with attachments and has been the central obstacle in allowing men with them to live without fear of detection. Follicle unit micro-hair transplantation provides the most natural hairlines possible today.
Are there any special risks with hair restoration surgery?
Complications are extremely rare when the procedure is performed by a competent surgeon.
